Meet one of our participants, John*. When Tedoo started working with John, he was experiencing some difficulties managing his relationships and environments independently.
There was a high frequency and intensity of behaviours of harm or concern and the use of restrictive practices. This was having a negative impact on his quality of life, his relationships, and his ability to engage positively in his local community.
At Tedoo, one of our primary goals is to support a reduction in the frequency and intensity of behaviours of harm or concern along with improving quality of life and reducing the use of restrictive Practices.
With a strong focus on this approach, our team began working collaboratively and intensively with both John, his family, and his support team.
In the provision of Behaviour Supports, we examined John’s environments closely and collaborated with his team on how we could support positive changes to support reductions in behaviours of harm or concern and the use of restrictive practices.
Together, we facilitated environmental changes that have successfully reduced the frequency and intensity of behaviours.
Whilst we have been able to work collaboratively to achieve this, we continue to work with John, his family and his team to reduce the use of Restrictive Practices. We are really positive that those restrictive practices will be eliminated over the next 12 months!!
Today, John has built a wonderful group of valued friends and enjoys living with his housemate. John engages in meaningful activities within his local community and at home. We are thrilled with these positive changes for John, and it’s wonderful seeing him have fun and enjoy his life!
